Kids Camp Adventures Part II

We all started our day with church and then it was the crazy mass exodus to get out to Knudson Cove to load 34 kids, 12 staff and luggage enough for our camp week adventure. Finding a boat big enough to transport us all to camp was a big ordeal, but God provided in an amazing way. We got a boat enough to hold us all and our luggage!


It was a fabulous and beautiful ride out to Naha Bay



We got to the dock, unloaded, ate a snack to get ready for the 2 mile hike in to camp.


We hike our stuff about a 1/4 mile to the lagoon where our stuff got boated most of the way to camp and then we picked it up since the river was too low to bring it all the way to camp.



We finally made it!

Our theme at camp was Survivor. Each night we had a variety show and the kids got to "vote off" one of the staff based on our poor acting skills. Voting off meant they got to throw us in the river. Unfortunately it was more about who they wanted to see go in the drink than it was about acting. So the first night - they really wanted to see me get wet. The water was very cold - especially at night with no sun

The last night we pulled a fast one on the kids and when the threw in Logan, we all jumped in! Good times.


Another fun adventure of camp was all the bears. Right across a narrow river is Bear Island. We saw so many bear!



It was amazing how close they got to us!

When we took the kids swimming there were bear fishing in the river not more than 50 feet away. We had Jay, "The Man," stand watch with guns just in case they got to close. They were harmlessly fishing for salmon and completely oblivious to all our ruckus. Crazy. Only in Alaska.



It was a great camp!
